FAIRLESS Hills, PA
At an event at a Spanish windmill firm in Pennsylvania, President Obama suggested Americans consider selling their gas guzzlers for more fuel efficient cars. The president chided one questioner, saying: "If you're complaining about the price of gas and you're only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know, you might want to think about a trade-in."
The Associated Press reported that Mr. Obama made the comment "laughingly." However, the quote has been scrubbed from the linked page.
Fortunately, Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit captured a screen shot:
Which reminds one of the apocryphal quote attributed to an unknown citizen from the former Soviet Union: "Here the future is certain; it's the past that is always changing."
It is quite a coincidence that 8 miles-a-gallon is what Mr. Obama's limousine is estimated to achieve.
Fortunately, the Fall River Herald News (MA) has the original quote, for now.
